Bilwamrateshwar Mahadev Dharampuri,Madhya Pradesh

Sage Dadhichi donated his bones to save this world. The temple where such great sages used to worship Mahadev was called Bilvamriteshwar. Between two streams of Narmada, a three kilometer long island is known as Bent. There is a huge temple of Shri Bilvamriteshwar Mahadev in 30 thousand square feet on this island. Near the temple is the mausoleum of Maharishi Dadhichi and his wife. The idols of Lord Dattatreya and Narmada Devi are installed in the temple in the southern part of the island itself. Dadhichi Rishi had donated his bones on the bent itself to make a thunderbolt for the welfare of the world. The Pandavas also stayed here in exile. Since then this place was named Dharmapuri after Dharmaraj Yudhishthira. The Bilvamriteshwar Mahadev Temple located here is of Ramayana period. Here Lord Bholenath is seated in the form of a self-manifested Shivling. Hundreds of devotees reach here on every Sawan Monday to worship Bilvamriteshwar Mahadev. The belief of this temple is from the Mahabharata period that the wishes of all the devotees are fulfilled here. A huge fair is organized here on Mahashivratri.
