This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Boreshwar Mahadev Temple was built in 1179 AD during the reign of Maharawal Samant Singh. It is situated on the banks of river Som. Shiva is one of the major deities of Hindu religion. He is the supreme being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism. Shiva is the “destroyer of evil and transformer” within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma and Vishnu.
