Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple of Bithoor is one of the four ancient Shiva temples, Brahmaji had performed the Yagya.

Kanpur. Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple is situated on the banks of Ganga at Brahmavart Ghat in Bithoor. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Shiva here, all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled. In the month of Shravan, devotees from all over the country come to see Mahadev. After taking bath in Ganga, devotees perform Jalabhishek and pray for happiness and prosperity.

History of the temple
The history of Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple located at Brahmavart Ghat in Bithoor dates back to ancient times. It is said in the Puranas that before creating the universe, Brahmaji had performed a yagya by making a Shivlinga of sand on the banks of the ghat of Bithoor. The ancient temple is established near Brahmakhunti. Devotees also worship Lord Brahma by worshiping Mahadev in the month of Shravan. By taking a bath in Ganga and seeing Mahadev here, one attains virtue.

Features of the temple
Brahmakhunti located at Brahmavart Ghat is considered the center of the world. The Brahmeshwar Mahadev temple situated on this ghat is one of the four ancient Shiva temples. The four ancient Shiva temples include Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple of Bithoor, Lodheshwar Temple of Barabanki, Vankhandeshwar of Bani and Vaneshwar Shiva Temple of Banipara.

It is believed that Brahmaji had worshiped Mahadev before creating the universe on the banks of Ganga. Yagya was performed by making Shivalinga from the sand of Ganga. In the Mahayagya that lasted for many years, the sand Shivalinga was transformed into a stone Shivalinga.

The Shivalinga of the temple is coated with copper. The Lord fulfills the wishes of any devotee who offers Bel Patra with love. The ancient temple of Mahadev remains the center of faith of the devotees.
