The importance of the place is mentioned in Skandha Purana that just by entering this temple at the gate of heaven, the sins of many births are destroyed. And it is written that this place has the supreme power and mysterious place of Lord Vishnu. By observing a fast of Lord Vishnu and aspiring for the world of Vishnu, the kind of religious results that a person knows are not achieved anywhere else. Taking bath in the water of the well established in this temple and donating clothes and grains gives great results. According to the tradition of this temple, Dhanurmas Mahotsav is organized for one month every year. Which is called Shri Godamba festival.

Describing the importance of this temple, Acharya Satendra Das said that Chandrahari means that the supreme power of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu is present there and the twelve Jyotirlingas are also established. People go to many places to have darshan of the twelve Jyotirlingas present on the earth and to attain the virtue of that place, it is achieved only by having darshan in this Chandra Hari of Ayodhya. And the person who takes the kamna gets that kind of fruit.
