Chibbalugudde Sri Ganapathi Temple

Sri Ganapathi Temple is located at Chibbalagudde which is 10kms from Thirthahalli and also near Kuppalli in Shimoga District of Karnataka.
In the backyard of the temple and around 25 steps down stairs, river Tunga flows towards Shivamogga from Tirthahalli, and the uniqueness of this place is that there is a herd of same fishes which are found at Shringeri. Devotees offer puffed rice and raw rice to the fishes.

Lord Ganesha is one of the most worshipped deities in the Hindu religion and is also known as Vighnaharta, which means, remover of obstacles. His symbolic figurine has an elephant’s head with a curved trunk and big ears on a big human body. A mouse is his chosen vehicle and his favorite offering is laddus. He is also the first to be worshipped during any auspicious event. It is believed that the blessings of Lord Ganesha are the most powerful ones.

The deity of Sri Vinayaka at Chibbalagudde is believed to be Udbhava moorthy (Self manifested idol).

Chibbalagudde is believed to be sanctified by many sages who did rigorous mediation on the banks of river Tunga.

People suffering from chibbu or sibbu disease (A skin disease characterised by whitish, reddish or blackish spots)
come here and offer rice or mandakki (puffed rice) to the river fish and once their devotion favour or wish comes true they offer fruits and break coconut for Lord Ganapathi here as they strongly believe that the disease will be cured. Hence the name of this area is Chibbalagudde. Watching the fish in the river here is a pleasure.

This temple is known to be relieve skin diseases.
Devotees prayers and visit to the temple is supposed to heal all types of skin diseases at this Ganapathi Temple.
