Diwali-The objects used in worship and the auspicious Lakshmi symbol are considered to bring happiness, prosperity, opulence, peace and joy.

The main ones among these are as follows-

Vandanwar:- A garland of young soft leaves of mango or peepal is called Vandanwar. It is tied at the east gate on the day of Diwali.

This symbolizes that the gods enter the house attracted by the sweet fragrance of these leaves.

It is believed that keeping the bow of Diwali for 31 days maintains unity and peace in the family.

Swastika:- Swastika symbol is made on the wall before every ritual in public life. The four arms of the Swastika, representing the four directions North, South, East and West, are considered to be the symbol of Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sanyasa Ashrams. This symbol is made from saffron, turmeric, or vermilion.

Cowry:- There is an ancient tradition of keeping Cowry in the decorated plate of Lakshmi puja, because it is synonymous with wealth and Shri. By keeping cowries in the safe, Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings always remain.

Lachha:- This auspicious symbol symbolizes the power of organization, which is tied on the wrist at the time of worship.

Tilak:- Tilak is applied at the time of worship so that intelligence, knowledge and peace spread in the mind.

Paan-rice. :- These are also auspicious signs of the festival of lights. Betel leaf purifies the house and rice prevents any black stains from appearing in the house.

Batasha or jaggery:- These are also auspicious symbols of Jyoti Parv. Donating jaggery and sticks after worshiping Lakshmi increases wealth.

Reed:- The favorite food item of Lakshmi’s Airavat elephant is reed. By including reed in the worship on the day of Diwali, Airavat remains happy and his power and sweetness of speech remains in the house.

Sorghum Pokhara:- Keeping Sorghum Pokhara in the house on the day of Diwali increases wealth and there is no shortage of any kind of food grains throughout the year. Worshiping a pond of jowar during the worship of Goddess Lakshmi brings diamonds and pearls into the house.

Rangoli:- Rangoli is made by inscribing religious symbols like lotus, swastika kalash, flower leaves etc. at the place of Lakshmi worship and at the entrance and courtyard using a combination of colours. It is said that Goddess Lakshmi is quickly attracted towards Rangoli.
