Does God eat the food offered by us?
If we eat, why doesn’t that thing get destroyed?
And if you don’t eat, then what is the benefit of offering food?
A boy asked this question to his teacher in the middle of the lesson.
The Guru did not give any immediate answer.
He continued teaching the lesson as before…
That day he recited a verse at the end of the lesson:
Purnamadah purnamidam purnaat purnamudchyate.
Purnasya Purnamadaya Purnamevashishyate ॥
After the recitation, the Guru asked the disciples to memorize the verses.
After an hour, the Guru asked the questioning disciple whether he remembered the verse or not?
That disciple narrated the entire verse to the Guru.
Still the Guru shook his head ‘no’, then the disciple said that if he wants, he can see the book; I remember the verse exactly right.
Looking at the book, the Guru said, “The verse is in the book itself, so how did it enter your mind? The disciple could not answer anything.
Then the Guru said, “The verse in the book is in rough form. When you read the verse, it entered your mind in a subtle form.
It remains in your mind in the same subtle form. And even when you read it and memorized it, there was no reduction in the verses of the book.
Similarly, God, who is present in the entire world, accepts the request offered by us in a subtle form and there is no reduction in the physical thing due to this. We accept the same as Prasad.
The disciple got the answer to his question.
This is Prabodh, this is Sumarti for which we have received this human body.
