Durdureshwar Mahadev (84/84) Devikaradiya, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

The king of Ayodhya found a girl in the forest. They married her and brought her to the kingdom. Due to her fascination, the king’s attention got diverted from his administration. The king’s minister built a beautiful garden and left it there with the queen. Once the queen went to take bath in a pond built there and never returned. There were more Durdur (frogs) in that pond. The king ordered all the frogs to be destroyed. Meanwhile, the king of frogs came out and said, my name is Aayu and the girl is his daughter. His daughter has been taken away by Nagchud, the king of the snake world. You remember him and ask him for a queen. Nagchur handed over his queen to the king. Nagchur said that he had ridiculed Galav Rishi and hence he was cursed to become Durdur. He said that when you donate your daughter to the king of Ikshvaku clan and have darshan of Shivalinga located in the north of Mahakal forest, you will get salvation. After doing this he reached heaven. Due to liberation from Durdur, Shivalinga became famous by the name of Durdureshwar Mahadev. It is believed that whoever visits Durdureshwar Mahadev, his sins will be destroyed. This temple is in Jaithal village on Agar Road.
