This temple is named after the Mahabharata character Mata Kunti. It is said that before the Mahabharata war, Mother Kunti, with the help of her son Arjun, had offered her favorite flowers to the Shivalinga installed in this temple. Lord Shiva was pleased and blessed the five Pandavas to be victorious in the Mahabharata war, since then the name of this temple became famous as Kunteshwar Mahadev Temple.

mythology

During his exile, Lord Shiva appeared to Mother Kunti in her dream and asked her to anoint him with flowers that looked like gold. To fulfill this wish of Lord Shiva, Kunti ordered her son Arjun to bring such wonderful flowers. Then Arjun consulted Lord Shri Krishna about this and he told Arjun that the tree giving such flowers was obtained from the churning of the ocean, which is now in Indralok. After receiving the permission of Lord Krishna, Arjun went to Indralok and brought the Parijat tree from there.
The flowers of this tree looked like gold, Mother Kunti had offered the flowers of this tree to Shivalinga. Today this temple is known as Kunteshwar Mahadev. The specialty of the Parijat tree is that when its flowers are on the tree, they appear white in color, when they are separated from the branch, they become golden like gold.
According to the folk belief here, all the wishes are fulfilled by offering the flowers of this tree to Kunteshwar Mahadev.
