Elders say
Elders say that whenever you go to a temple for darshan, after the darshan, come out and sit for a while on the temple’s pedestal or platform.
Do you know the reason behind this tradition?
This ancient tradition was created for a special purpose.
Actually, while sitting on the steps of the temple, we should recite a shloka. You should listen to this shloka and tell it to others as well.
This shloka is as follows –
anaayaasen maranam,
bina diyen jeevanam.
dehaant tav saanidhyam,
dehi me bhagavaanam..
Meaning of this shloka is:
●Anayasena maranam…means we should die without any pain and we should never die while lying on bed after falling sick and suffering, our life should end while we are walking.
● Bina Denyen Jeevanam…
Means life should not be dependent on anyone. Just like a person becomes dependent on others after getting paralyzed, one should not be dependent or helpless. By the grace of Thakurji, life should be able to live without begging.
●Dehaante tava saanidhyam…
Meaning whenever you die, you should be in front of God. Just like at the time of Bhishma Pitamah’s death, Lord Thakur himself went and stood in front of him. He breathed his last while seeing him.
●Dehi me Parameshwaram….
O God, give us such a blessing.
Pray this…
Car, house, boy, girl, husband, wife, home, money – you don’t have to ask for these, God himself gives them to you according to your worthiness.
That is why after having darshan, you must sit and pray this.
This is a prayer, not a begging. Begging is for worldly things such as house, business, job, son, daughter, worldly pleasures, money or any other thing that is asked for is a request, it is begging.
We pray. Prayer has a special meaning, i.e., special, best. Arthana means request. Pray to Thakurji and what is prayer, is to recite this shloka.
One important thing-
When we go to the temple for darshan, we should see God with open eyes, we should gaze at him. We should have darshan of him. Enjoy the form of God, his feet, his face, his adornment, take complete bliss. Fill your eyes with the form. Have a darshan and after the darshan, when you come out and sit, close your eyes and meditate on the form you have seen. Do not close your eyes in the temple. After coming out, sit on the steps and meditate on Lord Thakur and then close your eyes. If Lord Thakur’s form does not come to your mind, then go to the temple again and have darshan of God. After closing your eyes, recite the above shloka.
