For those are in distress Hanuman offers protection

Tulsidas did not say that Hanuman should save you from trouble. There is a huge difference between saving and rescuing! One can save from a distance, but one can only rescue from close quarters.

To rescue means to snatch something from someone’s hands. Whenever a devotee faces a crisis, Hanuman ji does not rescue him from afar but comes close and rescues him.

There is a story about how Hanuman ji rescues people from trouble.

There was a pious king named Supanth. Once a saints’ conference was going to be held in Ayodhya, so Supanth was also going to the saints’ conference to meet the saints.

On the way, I met Narada, greeted him, and asked, “Where are you going?” He said, “I’m going to a saints’ conference to meet the saints.”

Naradaji said go and pay obeisance to all the saints but there will be Brahmarishi Vishwamitra there, he is a Kshatriya, do not pay obeisance to Kshatriyas, Naradaji instigated this.

Narada might have wanted to reveal the glory of Hanumanji and the effect of the name of the Lord. Supanth said, as you wish.

If you went to Supanth, saluted everyone but did not salute Vishwamitra, then this is the arrogant nature of a Kshatriya.

Vishwamitra said, how dare he not greet me in the full assembly, though it is okay if a mistake is made, but if it is not done intentionally then the action becomes visible.

Vishwamitra got angry and ran to Lord Rama and said, Raghav, there is so much injustice in your kingdom, so much insult to the gurus and saints?

God asked, “Gurudev, what happened?” He said, “That king did not pay obeisance to me; he should be punished.” God said, “If that is the case, then the death penalty will be announced tomorrow.”

When Supanth came to know that death sentence has been announced and that too Ramji has vowed that I swear by the feet of Gurudev that by tomorrow’s sunset his life will end,

Here, Lakshmana looked at the Lord with great anger and asked, “Lord, what is the matter?”

The Lord replied, “A crime is being committed today. How? King Supanth of the Kaivalya country has insulted Gurudev.”

And I have vowed to kill him tomorrow. Lakshmana said, Maharaj, tomorrow never comes for you. You had also told Sugreev that I will kill him tomorrow. It seems something fishy is going to happen.

He said no, this is my promise, Uthar Supanth started crying then Naradji appeared and asked what happened?

He said that God has promised to kill us, well, it is a good fortune to be killed by God, death is inevitable, death cannot be avoided.

Supanth said, it is amazing, you were the one who provoked me, now you are saying this.

Narada said, “I can tell you one way. I won’t interfere with God. What is the way?” He said, “Go and cry to Mother Anjani.”

Only Anjana Maa can protect you through Hanumanji, this is such a big crisis and no one else will be able to save you.

Supanth reached the house of Mata Anjaniji and fell down at Anjani’s house and started crying loudly.

Mother is mother, she asked what is the matter? Son, why are you crying? Mother, protect me, mother, protect me, from whom do you want to protect me?

He said, protect Mary, mother said, I promise that no one can kill you, I will protect you, tell me the truth.

Supanth narrated the entire incident, but the mother had already made a promise and said, “Okay, it’s okay, you can rest inside.”

Hanumanji came, bowed to the mother, and seeing her a little worried, asked, “Mother, what’s the matter?”

The mother said, “I have made a vow to protect those who seek refuge, and you must protect them.”

Hanuman said, “Mother, what are you saying? Once you give your order, he will be protected automatically.”

Mother said, first make a promise, I swear by the feet of Lord Shri Ram that whoever comes to your shelter will be protected.

Mother called that king, said this is him, asked who is going to kill him?

He said that Lord Ramji has made a promise, Hanumanji said that you have trapped me in trouble, the world used to sing that Hanuman saves from trouble, today you have put Hanuman in trouble.

Well, I’ve made a promise to my mother, look, do as I say, don’t be afraid,

On the other side, the Lord picked up his bow and arrow and went to kill him. Hanumanji started going from another route, then the Lord asked Hanumanji where are you going, then Hanumanji said, Lord, where are you going, he said, I am going to fulfill my promise.

Hanumanji said, “I am also going to fulfill my promise.”

The Lord asked, “What is your promise?” Hanumanji said, “First tell me, what promise have you made?”

The Lord revealed his vow, and Hanumanji also said that he was going to protect him.

The Lord said, “I have sworn by the feet of my Gurudev that I will kill him.”

Hanumanji said, I have sworn by the feet of my Lord that I will protect him.

Lakshmanji is watching this drama and smiling. What is this drama happening?

As soon as he saw the arrival of the Lord, Supanth started crying, Hanumanji said don’t cry, stand behind me, Hanumanji comes in times of trouble.

The Lord released the enchanted arrow, Hanumanji raised both his hands and chanted the name of the Lord “Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram” and the arrow failed and returned back.

When all the arrows failed, God took out Brahmastra, as soon as Brahmastra was released it hit Hanumanji directly in the chest but what was the result?

The Lord fell unconscious, the arrow hit Hanumanji and the Lord fainted, now there was great panic, Hanumanji ran, my Lord has fainted, why has he fainted?

Because “Jaasu Hriday Agar Bashin Ram Sar Chaap Dhar” God is sitting in Hanumanji’s heart, so the arrow will hit God only.

Everyone else was terrified, wondering what had happened? Hanumanji bowed down at the feet of the Lord and brought Supanth right into his lap. Hanumanji placed him at the Lord’s feet.

The Lord was unconscious, Hanumanji was crying and singing kirtans so that the Lord’s unconsciousness would go away, the Lord’s unconsciousness slowly went away.

And in love and affection, God realized that if the arrow hit Hanuman’s heart, he would have been hurt, hence God fainted due to this pain.

When Hanumanji started singing kirtan, Ramji started caressing Hanumanji’s head, Hanumanji slowly moved back and placed the Lord’s hand on Supanth’s head.

With both his hands he started caressing Supanth’s head thinking it to be Lord Hanuman’s head.

As soon as the Lord opened his eyes, he saw Supanth at his feet. The Lord smiled and said, Hanuman, who can kill the one whom you want to save?

Hanumanji is immortal, he is present in all the four ages, the place where all the troubles, sorrow, attachment and fear are removed is the remembrance of the name of God, Hanumanji lives with Ramji, if you are not freed from the trouble then Hanumanji will free you.
