Ganesh Temple Ratanada Jodhpur

Share

Swayambhu Ganesh, who appeared from the penance of Vishwamitra, is being worshiped in the Ratanada temple for 260 years.

Ratanada Ganesh Temple, one of the oldest temples of the city, has a unique story in itself. Neither anyone brought nor installed an idol in this temple. The statue, about five feet high and three and a half feet wide, had manifested itself on the 125 feet high tekri located at Ratanada, which has been worshiped by the priest family of Shakdweepiya Brahmin community for 260 years. It is believed that Vishwamitra had performed penance on this Tapobhoomi and Gajanandji, pleased with his penance, had appeared here, which today remains a center of darshan for people across the district.

Bhagishail Parikrama starts from here only

Priests Pradeep Sharma and Motilal Sharma say that devotees start the Bhogishail Parikrama which comes every three years in the month of Eidak by having darshan of Ratanada Ganeshji and the devotees also do its immersion with darshan of Lambodar.

260 years ago Dhundhoji had darshan when he went towards Ratanada forest.

Although the history of the temple dates back to 260 years, but temple priests Anandswaroop Sharma and Krishnamurari Sharma say that the idol of the temple had already appeared. 260 years ago, Dhundhoji Ratanada, who used to run the school to teach children at Sojati Gate, had gone towards the forest. When he climbed the tekri of Ratanada, he saw the self-proclaimed Ganesh idol. After this, when he told the Maharaja of Marwar about the idol, he expressed happiness and ordered him to serve him as per the rituals. After this, his three sons Rodidas, Saleraj and Mukunlal served. Then the work of worship is being done continuously by their descendants.

Lord Ganesha is bathed with pond water every day.

Even today Vighna Vinayak takes bath with natural water in Ratanada Ganesh temple. There are two ponds on this hill. The priest takes bath from one of these and Lord Ganesha takes bath from the other. No one is allowed to go to the pond whose water is used for Gajanand’s bath. Temple priests Umesh and Kamalkishore Sharma tell that the water bathed by the Lord is given to the priest family and devotees in the form of Charanamrit.

First wedding card, new car, first offering to God

Be it someone’s christening, wedding or buying a new car or bike. No work is accomplished without inviting Ratanada Ganesha. That is why in weddings, people first invite them and take them to their homes along with drums and plates, and after the ceremony is over, the tradition of offering laddus and bringing them back to the temple and enshrining them has been going on for two hundred and fifty years.

Here people eat cold on the day of Goga Navami.

Although fairs are organized in Ratanada Ganesh Temple every year on the days of Ganesh Chaturthi, Anant Chaturdashi and Goga Navami, but on the day of Goga Navami, many people still come here to eat cold i.e. stale food and this prasad is offered to Gogaji. Therefore, for the rest of the devotees, Raja Rao Narpat Singh of Marwar state also built a Dharamshala here.
