Garudeshwar is a village in Nandod taluka in Narmada district of Gujarat state. It is situated 17 kilometers east of the district headquarters Rajpipla. This place has a spiritual background because of Paramahamsa Parivrajakacharya Shree Vasudevananda Saraswathy Swamy Maharaj who took the Samadhi at Bank of Narmadar River at Garudeshwara in 1914 A.D. The idol of Lord Dattatreya in the temple is very inspiring due to its piercing eyes and beside this Samadhi place of Shree Vasudevanand Swami Maharaj is positioned. In mythology, Garudeshwar Dutt is said to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva, who defeated the demon Jalandhar. The carved façade of the temple and the sanctum sanctorum with its magnificent sculpture of the deity is an example of the mastery of medieval architecture.
