Gaurisagar Talab/Gourisagar Pukhuri Sivasagar Assam
Gaurisagar Lake was constructed between 1715 and 1719 by Queen Phuleswari, who was wife of King Siva Singha. The Ahoms had an act of excavating large tanks as a gesture of pity. She also constructed three temples on the northern bank of the tank.
Gourisagar Pukhuri or Gaurisagar Tank is an artificial lake in Sivasagar, Sivasagar district in the state of Assam in India. It is situated 12 km away from Sivasagar.
Gourisagar Pukhuri popularly known as Gourisagar Tank,there are three temples on the north bank. DeviDoul, adorned with sandstone sculptures. In winter migratory birds visit the lake in large numbers.
The place is an artificial tank which is located close to Sibsagar town and was built by Queen Phuleswari, the first wife of the Ahom king in the year 1723. There are many temples which are situated on the banks of Gaurisagar Tank which are devoted to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
