Ghuguha Dol Dhemaji

One of the mentionable historical places to visit in Dhemaji district of Assam is the Ghuguha Dol or Ghuguha Temple which is a revered site among the native people. If you wish to move away from bustling city life, plan a visit to this temple amidst the serene ambience of Dhemaji locals by the River Brahmaputra. It is one of the most famous historical sites in Assam and is located on the south western side of the district. Ghuguha Dol is always counted in as one of the prime tourist sightseeing destinations in Assam. Covered by the mountain ranges of Arunachal Pradesh all around, this temple is bounded by rich scenic beauty and cultural natives. As per the historical records this site was the place where the son of an Ahom ruler named Bamuni Konwar was born. Ghuguhi was the mother of Bamuni Konwar and the queen of the Ahom ruler named Tyao Khamti. This temple is said to have been constructed in the memory of Bamuni Konwar’s mother, and thus, has been named as Ghuguha Dol. This temple is considered to be very holy for the tribes living here and they pay their homage to the beautiful soul in whose memory this temple had been set up by offering regular prayers at the shrine.
