Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi(Jalandhar)

Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi is located in village Basti Sheikh in district Jalandhar. Guru Hargobind visited the city of Jalandhar during his tour of the Doaba area. Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi in Basti Shaikh, Jalandhar city, stands on the spot where Guruji granted an audience to a Muslim holy saint popularly known as Sheikh Darvesh.

Fearing Punishment The great Guru had an in depth discussion with the Sheikh Darvesh about spiritual matters which created a good impact on the holy man.

• Fearful of Mughal reprisal (most likely he was well aware of Guru Arjan’s arrest and torture, accused of meeting with Jahangir’s son) the saint blindfolded his eyes so that he could swear before the Mughal authorities that he had not ‘seen’ the Guru.
