Gurudwara Guru Ki Kothri/Guru ki kothari Amritsar
Gurdwara Chohla Sahib, Chohla, village 4.5 km southeast of Sirhali Kalari (31° 16’N, 74° 56’E) in Amritsar district of the Punjab, is sacred to Guru Arjan (1563 – 1606). in the interior of the village marks the site of the house where Guru Arjan and his wife, Mata Ganga, had stayed. It is also known as Mata Ganga Ji da Asthan. The present building, raised during the 1980’s, comprises a square hall in front of the domed sanctum topped by a goldplated pinnacle. Here, too, is an old well that local tradition connects with Guru Arjan’s time.
Gurdwara Guru Ki Kothri is situated at a distance of 5 Km from Village Sirhali Kalan and 24 Km from Taran Taran City, in the interior part of Village Chola, District Taran Taran, Punjab.
When Fifth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji came here from Village Sirhali Kalan, Mata Numberdaarni offered him a kothri to reside. Guru Ji stayed here for about 2 Years, 5 months and 13 days alongwith his wife, Mata Ganga Ji and young son Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. A well where Guru Arjun Dev Ji used to have a Bath still exists. This Gurdwara is also known as Gurdwara Mata Ganga Ji Da Asthan.
