This temple is situated on a mound on the left side facing east on the road leading from Shri Sthiraman (Thalaman) Ganapati Temple located near Maa Garhkalika to Shri Vikrant Bhairav Temple. There is one unpaved path to climb the mound and the other is an easy one made of iron. On the ancient pillars, there is a 5 feet high entrance with a steel gate inside, from which a 5 feet high deep niche on our left has a 1.5 feet high vermillion painted idol of Lord Ganesha installed.
On the front wall, there is a very beautiful, attractive and artistic vermilion painted idol of Panchmukhi Hanumanji, just below which is the idol of Parvati in a large arched niche and on the right side is seated Kartikeya. In the sanctum sanctorum of about 80 square feet, a dark colored linga covered with a snake figure and shaded is established in the middle of a 2 feet wide brass water vessel. A 2 feet high brass trident and damru are installed nearby. There is white marble on the floor and half the wall. Here this Linga is anointed with a stream of oil.
After the victory of Lanka, the monks who came to greet Shri Ram, praised Shri Hanuman’s wonderful deeds like crossing the ocean, searching for Sita, destroying Ravana’s commanders, ministers and sons, burning of Lanka etc. Even Kaal, Indra, Vishnu and Brahma did not do such work. Hearing this, Shri Ram also praised Hanuman’s great deeds and his muscular strength and said that he did not know his own strength.
Then the sages told that they were cursed by the sages with unfailing words. Thereafter, the sages narrated the events of Hanuman’s childhood leaping into the sky to catch Bal Surya, Indra’s thunderbolt attack on him and Vayu taking him to Mahakalvan to perform Linga Seva. The sages also told that Hanuman became conscious as soon as he touched the penis.
Then Pawandev named this Linga Hanumatkeshwar, with this name it became popular. Then Indra reached there and named him Hanuman, then Varun gave Hanuman the blessing of immortality, Yama gave him immortality, Kuber gave him health, Surya gave him radiance and Wind gave him fast speed. In the end, this Linga also gave the boon of always destroying the enemy forces for Hanuman’s invincibility, immortality and invincibility and Raghav’s love.
After killing Ravana, Linga told Vayudev about establishing it here after telling Vibhishana. The sages told Shri Ram that because of this Linga, Amit became brave and Hanuman became famous in the world and hence he deserves praise. Saying this, the sages went to Avantimandal, then Ram came to Mahakalvan and worshiped Hanumatkeshwar Linga.
The human being who sees this Linga becomes gratified in Kalikaal and attains Brahmasayujya. He also becomes free from the cycle of rebirth. Human beings also become like kings after seeing Hanumatkeshwar Linga.
