Hare Krishna (ISKCON) Temple, Canberra
Canberra is also graced with the presence of the widely known ISKCON Temple. Devoted to Lord Krishna, ISKCON in Canberra is situated in Ainslie (Australia Capital Territory). The temple like other ISKCON shrines is built to serve seven purposes like systematically propagating spiritual knowledge to society at large; propagating a consciousness of Krishna; bringing the members of the society together with each other and closer to Krishna, teaching and encouraging the Sankirtan movement of congregational chanting of the holy name of God; establishing for the members and for society a holy place of transcendental pastimes; bringing the members closer together to teach about a simpler and more natural way of life; and achieving the aforementioned purposes of publishing and distributing periodicals, magazines, books and other writings. As a part of these seven purposes, ISKCON society in Canberra also works for cow protection and promotion of eco-villages. There are also regular meditation and music sessions that take place in the temple along with Sunday Feast Program that you can be a part of.
