illusion of the Lord
Once Narad ji very curiously asked Lord Vishnu, “Lord, what is your illusion? Because all human beings on earth suffer or experience happiness inspired by your illusion. But what exactly are your illusions? Lord Vishnu said, “Narad! If you want to know my Maya, you will have to come with me to the earth. Where I can give you proof of my illusion.
To show his illusion to Narad, Lord Vishnu was going to the earth world with Narad through a vast desert, here not even a human being, let alone any living creature, could be seen far and wide. Narad ji kept moving ahead following Lord Vishnu, crossing the hot sand of the desert. While walking, Narad ji started feeling heat and hunger and thirst like a human being.
Then at some distance he saw a small river, Narad ji reached near that river to quench his thirst. Then he saw a beautiful girl at some distance. Seeing whose beauty, Naradmuni became fascinated with the girl. Narad ji went to her and asked her the reason for coming to the deserted place. The girl told that she was a princess of a nearby town and had lost her way with some of her soldiers.
Narada Muni also reaches his kingdom with the princess. Raj Kumari tells everything to her father. The king is pleased and marries his daughter to Naradji and after handing over all the royal lessons to Naradmuni, he himself becomes a monk. Now Narad Muni starts living his life with full luxury like a king, in all this Narad had also forgotten that he should leave the Lord sitting on the river bank.
With the passage of time, Narad also had two children from that Rajkumari. Narada Muni was very happy to see his flourishing kingdom and sons. One day, there was such heavy rain in that state for 3 days continuously that the entire state was flooded. Everyone started running here and there for their safety. Narad also set out in a boat in search of a safe place with his wife and two children.
The flood had become so terrible that while leaving the kingdom, Narada’s wife fell down from the boat and was swept away by the strong current. Narada mourning. Somehow, out of the kingdom, they reached the same river where Narad ji had come with the Lord to quench his thirst. Narad Muni sits on the bank of the river and starts crying loudly while mourning.
My children, wife, everything was destroyed. Now what will I do by living this life? As soon as Naradmuni tries to jump into the river, Lord Vishnu holds his hand and says, wait Narad! This was my love. Whatever has happened to you till now was all my illusion. Now Naradmuni understands very well that whatever happened to him till now was only an illusion of the Lord.
