According to mythology, in ancient times there was a king named Indradyumna. He decided to do penance to earn virtue and enjoy the happiness of heaven and headed towards the Himalayan Mountains. There the king met sage Markandeya. The king bowed to him and asked which penance one attains stable fame. The sage said to the king, O king! Go to Mahakal forest. By worshiping the divine Linga there, one attains eternal fame.
Then King Mahakal came to the forest and worshiped this divine Linga situated here. Then the king attained eternal fame and finally went to heaven. When this Linga was worshiped by King Indradyum, it came to be known as Indradyumneshwar. According to the belief, whoever visits Shri Indradyumneshwar Mahadev will attain heaven. He will gain fame and fame and his virtue will increase. Shri Indradyumneshwar Mahadev is situated in Modi’s street.
