Innanje Madumbu Ganapati Temple Karnataka

Innanje Madumbu Ganapati Temple is located in the village of Innanje near Kaup in Udupi district, Karnataka. This temple, over 200 years old, has been renovated recently and is surrounded by beautiful greenery. It is a peaceful and spiritual place for both devotees and visitors.

In the local Tulu language, “Madumbu” means anthill. Anthills are considered sacred in Indian culture as they are believed to house divine energies or serpents (nagas). According to local stories, the idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered in a sacred anthill. The anthill was believed to be a natural sign of the deity’s presence.

It is said that Lord Ganapati appeared in the dream of a pious devotee and directed him to the anthill. Following this divine vision, the villagers installed the idol, and the temple became a place of worship.
