Ishaneshwar Mahadev (16/84) Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
A temple where by worshiping and meditating all the gods got freedom from the wrath of Tuhund salt demon.
Sri Ishaneshwar Mahadev Temple.
In ancient times there was a demon named Tuhund. Along with the gods, he also brought the sages, Gandharvas and Yakshas under his control. He blocked the door of heaven and took away all the rights of the gods. Then all the gods became extremely worried and started thinking.
Meanwhile Mahamuni Narad reached there. Then all the gods bowed to him and told about the atrocities committed by the demon Tuhunda. Also requested Narada Muni to suggest some solution to save them from the havoc of this demon. Then Narad Muni said that all of you should go to Mahakal forest and worship the divine linga situated at a place called Ishaneshwar.
Hearing the words of Narada Muni, all the gods reached the divine Linga in Ishaneshwar located in Mahakal forest and started praising Lord Shiva with full devotion. Then smoke came out of that Linga and then a fierce flame appeared. That flame incinerated Tuhund along with his army.
All the gods regained their place and their rights. Then all the gods said that we have regained everything in Ishaneshwar itself. That’s why we name him Ishaneshwar and in Trilok he will be known as Ishaneshwar Mahadev.
According to belief, whoever visits Shri Ishaneshwar Mahadev gets victory over his enemies. The temple of Shri Ishaneshwar Mahadev is situated in the big door of Modi ki Gali in Patni Bazaar area.
