ISKCON Temple Mumbai

Skon Temple, Mumbai officially known as Sri Sri Radha Rashbihari Ji Temple, is a temple in the Juhu area in Mumbai, India. It is set on four acres of land and is a stone’s throw away from Juhu Beach. Founder-Acharya A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada of ISKCON (also known as the Hare Krishna movement) inspired the construction of India’s most beautiful Lord Krishna temple in Mumbai.The presiding deities in the temple, Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Sri Radha Rasbihari and Sri Sri Sita Rama Lakshman Hanuman were personally installed by the founder of ISKCON. The temple is visited by thousands of people and devotees during festive occasions.

History
In the early 1970s, Srila Prabhupada acquired the Juhu property and promised Sri Sri Radha Rasbihari deities, who were then housed in a small hut. The temple complex was opened in 1978 and consists of a huge marble temple, an auditorium, restaurants and a twin seven-storey guest house where visitors can stay and participate in the daily spiritual programs of the temple.ISKCON is a regular visit destination for many eminent personalities. Many Indian and international films have featured Hare Krishna culture.

ISKCON Juhu is also a center of research and education, from its scientific research to schooling with ICSE curriculum (Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School). It also organizes several regular seminars and courses as well as daily discourses on various Vedic scriptures. The ‘Heaven on Earth’ complex has a huge library which not only has an extensive collection of spiritual books but also has a multi media section. One can watch many international videos of ISKCON and enjoy hundreds of lectures, kirtans and bhajans. Membership is free and everyone is welcome to take advantage of the excellent facilities. Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) is the world’s largest publisher of books related to the philosophy, religion and culture of Krishna and the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition of India.Bhakti Kala Kshetra is the cultural wing, which houses an auditorium, which is the center of many cultural festivals starring the likes of Ravi Shankar, Jagjit Singh, Protima Bedi, Vyjayantimala, Hema Malini, Anup Jalota and many others.
Youth program “Self Excellence” is organized every Sunday at ISKCON Juhu. The event is mostly held at Chakra Hall, second floor, above Govinda’s restaurant. Program timings are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. After the program, a grand dinner Prasadam is served to the attendees.
