Jaagnath Ji Temple Narnawas Jalore Rajasthan

Share

Jaganath Mahadev Temple, Pandava period Shivalaya is also present here.

Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple, situated on Aisarana mountain of Naranawas, 18 kilometers away from Jalore district headquarters, is quite ancient and historical.

Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple is situated between the two golden sands on Aisrana mountain, a sub-branch of the Aravalli mountain range, four and a half kilometers to the east of Narnavas town. The natural splendor here fascinates the devotees. High, huge green mountains, large sandbanks and different types of bushes growing on them attract.

The flowing waterfalls around Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple, the ever-flowing small river which is known as Chhoti Ganga among the local devotees fascinate the visitors. Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple, located 18 kilometers away from Jalore district headquarters, is very ancient and historical.

This temple was built many years ago by Morli Giri Maharaj, which is called the new temple. The study of an ancient rock inscription found here shows that there is an inscription of a goddess at this site and the inscription engraved on it is a witness to the story of the temple. This article is located at the bottom of the square columns. There are sculptures engraved in the central part. The shape of the peak of the temple is carved in the upper part of the pillars.

Apart from this there are articles by Uday Singh. The pillars on which there are female sculptures appear to be goddesses. The period of establishment of this temple seems to be from 1182 AD to 1207 AD. Similarly, in a rock inscription dated 1278, Udai Singh is shown in a salutation posture along with his queen.

Apart from this, an inscription of 1264 AD is placed on a platform.

The Shivalinga of Jagannath Mahadev is so ancient that it has been covered with strips of white marble so that the Shivalinga can be saved from water damage. There are many inscriptions and pillars in the temple complex. Some are said to be 700 to 800 years old. All these are very important from archaeological point of view. There is also a place of Songara Jujhar Bavasi in the pagoda complex, to whom it is promised to be worshiped first, this tradition continues even today.

There are historical references associated with this Jagannath Mahadev temple. It is said that during Alauddin Khilji’s attack on Jalore, some soldiers of Songara dynasty got injured in the battle and came to this temple and took shelter. The 140 soldiers of Veer Veeramdev who had taken shelter here were chased by the Mughal army and a fierce battle took place between them here in which Songara soldiers were martyred.

It is said that long after the martyrdom of the soldiers, the ascetic Morli Giri Maharaj started the construction of the temple here, but the construction work done throughout the day would collapse at night.

When the incident of temple collapse started happening every day, Yogiraj Morli Giri concentrated and found out those who were creating trouble. On this it was found that due to lack of Shraddha and Tarpan, 140 soldiers have not been liberated and they are obstructing the work of the temple. The Maharaja assured the souls of the soldiers that he would pay homage to them by immersing their ashes in Haridwar. They also did so but the ashes of one martyr remained from being immersed.

When there was another hurdle in the construction of the temple, Yogiraj Morli Giri meditated and after getting this information, Yogiraj said that now it is not possible to go back to Haridwar but his idol will be installed in the courtyard of this temple. Also talked about protecting the Shivalaya. On this, the soul of the soldier said that if I should be worshiped first in this temple, then I will agree. On this Yogiraj accepted this condition. After this, even today Songara Jujhar is worshiped first.

There is another Shiva temple in the Jaganath Mahadev complex which is said to be from the period of Pandavas, which emerged from the middle of a sandy bank 220 years ago. It is known as Juna Mahadev Temple. Present Shri Jagannath Mahadev Temple: Due to the tireless efforts of the then Mahant Somwar Bharti Maharaj, the marble temple was rebuilt in 1984, which was consecrated by Mahant Ganga Bharti Maharaj after him. Mahant Ganga Bharti Maharaj of Shri Jagannath Temple was the supreme disciple of Somwar Bharti Maharaj, who was a great ascetic.

There is also an ancient stepwell in the temple, whose water never dries up. Along with Shivratri, two fairs are organized every year. Devotees from Jalore, Sirohi, Pali and Gujarat participate in it. Also, on every Monday in the month of Sawan, a fair like scene is seen here.
