Tirtharaja Muchukund is the name of the chain of 108 temples surrounded by a large sacred pond, adorned with the title of nephew of all the Tirthas. This sacred area is named after the 24th Suryavanshi king Muchukanda, nineteen generations before Lord Shri Ram.
GT of Dholpur. The picturesque natural lake Muchukund is situated in the lap of the Aravalli mountain ranges, three kilometers away from the road. There would be no exaggeration if it is called Pushkar of Purvanchal. The picturesque form of the pond and the construction of temples are the result of the tenure of Maharaja Bhagwant Singh ji in 1856. This place is testifying to the arrival of Mandhata’s son Maharaj Muchukund and Lord Krishna.
It is also mentioned in the 23rd chapter of the fifth part of Vishnu Purana and in the 51st chapter of the tenth Skanda of Shrimad Bhagwat.
