The centre of ancient Rajput culture, Udaipur is now declared as one of the most visited tourist place in India by a no. of travel magazines and portals. This small city is the favorite location for wedding planners, honyemoon couples, both hollywood and bollywood film directors. The famous James bond movie, Octopussy was shot mostly here on one hand, while world famous singer Shakira performed here on the other hand.
In the main city of Udaipur, and just 100 meters from the Royal museum, Shri Jagdish Temple attracts visitors attention due to its magnificent construction and architecture. Devoted to lord Jagdish or Vishnu, this temple is at a height of 20 meters from the ground and can be reached by climging a steep stair case. In side the temple a beautiful idol of lord Jagdish charms the visitors with its ancient beauty and richness. The garbh griha is covered by a very high dome and, is surrounded by a small but lovely campus. Most of the time, you may hear the chanting of Aarti and bhajans by local people and the priest together. One may notice the similarity in architecture of this temple and Eklingji temple at Nathdwara-Udaipur linkroad. There are two huge elephants of stones at the entrance, adding real charm to the temple. This ancient temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh Ji in 1651 AD, the ruler of Udaipur at that time.
Darshan Timings: The darshan opens for visitors at 5.30 am and closes at 10.30pm.
