Kadalabalu Sri Anjaneya (Madhwanjaneya) Temple
Sri Madhwanjaneya swamy temple is located about 7 kms north of Davanagere in a place called Kadalabalu also known as Kadalabala in Karnataka.This temple is called Hanuma -Bheema- Madhwa Pavithra Kshetra.
Anjaneya devasthana is a temple where all the avatars of vaayu, wind god, are incarnated. It is believed that all the three avatars, Hanuma, Bheema and Madhwa, have re-incarnated in a single stone. The historic temple was built around this sacred re-incarnated stone by the Timmanna Nayaka of Nayakas of Chitradurga.
The idol in this temple is of Lord Hanuman is naturally formed in salagrama stone. The uniqueness of this idol is that this idol when observed very closely has HANUMA, BHEEMA and MADHWA avatars of Lord Hanuman. Also one can see imprints of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Lord Vedavyasa in this idol.
This idol was excavated about 500 years ago when people found a strange incident. A cow used to go regularly near a snake pit and produce milk over it. Anxious people excavated the snake pit to find out and to people’s surprise, there was a idol of Lord Hanuman in the snake pit.The idol was installed in the village and a temple was built.
Later the temple was developed was various pontiffs of Madhwa community. Swamy Sushameendra Theertha of Raghavendra Swamy Mutt constructed a pushkarni in the temple in 2006.
The annual event, Madhwanavami – birth day of Madhwacharya, attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the fair. The highlight of the event is Hanuma Rathothsava where the Hanuma utsava moorthi is taken in a procession around the town.
Today the temple is well developed and lot of devotees visit to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman.
