Bastar is a mysterious land with dense forests, serpentine valleys, rivers,. Kanger Valley National Park has three extraordinary caves, Kailash Cave is the oldest cave in the region. This cave was discovered on 22 March 1993. Among the underground caves of Bastar, Kailash Cave has the earliest limestone formations which are very attractive. The known length of this cave is 1000 feet with a depth of 120 feet. The breathtaking limestone formations alike Shivalinga – stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave give it a replica of Kailash. These dripstone formations are also worshiped by the local people.
Kutumbsar and Dandak caves are other attractions of Kanger Valley National Park. Guides, torches are available for tourists. During monsoon, Kailash Cave is closed and reopened from 16 October to 15 June every year. Now, gypsy safari is also available for tourists to explore the beauty of other places.
