Amarkantak is where Sati’s left hip had fallen, know the religious importance of this holy Shaktipeeth.

It is believed that all the places on earth where the burnt body parts of Sati fell became Shaktipeeths. Religious importance of darshan, worship of Kalmadhav Shaktipeeth situated in Amarkantak, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and its mythological history-

The left buttock of Mother Sati fell in Amarkantak on the banks of Son river in Madhya Pradesh, where she is worshiped with the name Kali.

Amaranthak is the origin place of Narmada, one of the seven major rivers of India and Son, one of the three major Mahanadi rivers. Apart from this, its biggest identity is that it is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths located here, Shona Shaktipeeth or rather Kalmadhav Shaktipeeth. This temple is made of white stones and there is a pond around it. It is believed that the left hip of Goddess Sati had fallen here. However, some people believe that Sati’s neck had fallen here. After which this place was called Amarkanth and then Amarkantak.
