The Kalugola Shambhavi Temple, located in Kavali Town, Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Shambhavi, an incarnation of Parvati Devi.Sri Kalugola Shambhavi Temple is believed to be a powerful center of divine energy.

The temple, believed to have been constructed in the 15th century by Rami Reddy, features a three-tiered Rajagopuram (main entrance tower) and a four-pillared Mandapam (hall). The deity is depicted holding a sword in her right hand and a trident (shulam) in her left.

The legend of Kalugola Shambhavi Temple is deeply rooted in divine intervention. It is believed that Goddess Shambhavi appeared in the dreams of the villagers of Sarvayapalem and instructed them to install her idol in a place where the sound of a rooster’s crow could not be heard. Following her divine command, the idol was placed in the western part of Kavali Town, and a magnificent temple was built to honor her presence. Since then, devotees have worshipped Goddess Shambhavi with immense devotion, believing that she grants protection, courage, and prosperity to those who seek her blessings.

Festivals and Celebrations

The temple is renowned for its grand festivals, which are celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. The most significant festival is Tirunalla, which is conducted once every 12 years. During this festival, thousands of devotees gather to participate in special pujas, homams, and processions, making it a spiritually uplifting event. Apart from Tirunalla, Navaratri is also celebrated with great fervor, where special rituals and devotional programs are conducted for nine days in honor of Goddess Durga.
