Kamakhya Devi Mandir Aligarh
Even today, thousands of such temples exist on Indian soil, where miracles happen, which help in strengthening the faith and belief of the devotees. You too must have read or heard about many miracles, but have you ever heard that the goddess idol in a temple is menstruating? If not, then today let us tell you about one such temple, where evidence of the goddess’ menstruation is found, this place is Kamakhya Devi Temple, Guwahati. Kamakhya Devi Temple, located on the Nilanchal mountain in Assam, is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas of the Goddess and this Shakti Peetha is considered best for tantric practices.
establishment of temple
According to mythology, when Goddess Sati sacrificed her life in the Yagya, Lord Shiva traveled across the world carrying the burnt body of Mother Sati, due to which his anger was increasing. Then, to handle the situation, Shri Hari started cutting the body parts of the mother with his Sudarshan Chakra and 52 Shaktipeeths were established at the 52 places on earth where the body parts of Goddess Sati fell.
It is believed that the mother’s vagina had fallen on Neelanchal mountain, due to which Kamakhya Devi Shaktipeeth was established here. There is a belief that the vagina of the Mother had fallen down and turned into an idol, which is still present in the temple and due to which the idol of the Mother is undergoing menstruation even today.
Goddess’s statue is Rajswala
Every year when the mother menstruates, Ambuvachi fair is organized here. On those days, the doors of the temple of Mata Bhagwati are automatically closed, this continues for three days. During those three days, neither any auspicious event nor any temple is opened in entire Guwahati. After this, on the fourth day, after bathing the idol of Kamakhya Devi, performing Vedic rituals etc., the temple is reopened for public darshan. This temple is unique in itself. Such a miracle and such a method of worship cannot be seen anywhere else in the entire world.
get unique prasad
During the Ambuvachi fair, devotees get a very unique and miraculous Prasad, which is a red colored wet cloth. It is said that before the goddess gets her period, a dry white cloth is spread around the idol of Mata Kamakhya. But after three days, when the doors are opened, these clothes become blood red due to the blood of the Mother Goddess and this divine Prasad cloth is called Ambuvachi cloth. It is believed that by wearing this cloth and worshiping Shakti, one can easily attain Siddhi.
Brahmaputra also turns red
Every year during this fair, the water of the Brahmaputra river flowing nearby also turns red, which signifies the menstruation of Kamakhya Devi, bathing in this river is also considered taboo on these days.
