Kamaladi Ganesh Temple

Kamaladi Ganesh Temple is one of the famous Ganesh temples of Nepal situated in the heart of city Kathmandu.The main deity of the temple is known as the White Ganesh. It is the most popular Ganesh Temple in the Kathmandu valley. The people believed that the main deity of the temple was found in the paddy fields. It was discovered that the idol was one of the Pitha Ganeshas of the Kathmandu Valley.

The temple lies at the same exact position where the white rock shaped like Lord Ganesh was found. The temple today is a richly ornamented structure that has undergone many renovations over the years.

The Kamaladi Ganesh Temple features a traditional Nepali pagoda-style architecture, adorned with intricate woodcarvings and colorful decorations. The main deity of the temple is Lord Ganesh, represented in a seated position. The idol is made of stone and is beautifully decorated with flowers, vermilion, and other offerings.

It is believed that King Prithvi Bir Bikram prayed here to bestow him with the son. After a year King Tribhuvan was born, so the tradition of worshipping at the temple to be blessed with the children began after that.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrate hugely in Kamaladi Ganesh Temple. It is organized every year by Kamaladi Ganesh Jamami Guthi.

From ancient times people have been visiting Kamaladi Ganesh Temple to pray for success at work and the birth of a son. Tuesdays and Saturdays are the best weekdays to visit the temple.
