Share

Shivling established on Girihinda mountain. Bhima had established this Shivalinga on Girihinda mountain during his exile. Later, this Shivalinga was noticed by Kameshwari Lal, a resident of Chewada block, and Bhole Baba was worshiped by him. Since then this temple was named Kameshwarnath. Shekhpura district is one of the 38th district of Bihar state which has some very picturesque places, one of which is ‘Girihind Mountain’. Girihinda mountain is the identity of Shekhpura district. Girihinda mountain is about 800 feet high. Shiva Parvati temple is situated on the top of this mountain.

According to belief, this temple was built in the Mahabharata period. It is said that during the Mahabharata period a demon named Hidimbha used to live on the peak of this Girihinda mountain. When the Pandava sons had to endure the exile period, Arjun’s elder brother Gadadhari Bhima stayed on this mountain of Girihinda for some time. During this time he also married Gandharva with Hidimbha. From which a demon named Ghatotkachh was born. According to the belief, it was Gadadhari Bhima who established this Shivling on the mountain of Girihinda. After this, after the order of Lord Shiva, Vishwakarma Ji built this temple overnight. Which later became known as Shiva Parvati Temple or Baba Kameshwar Nath Temple.

It is believed that the devotees who come to this temple and offer prayers, get the desired fruit and get children. Especially in the month of Sawan, there is a flow of devotees here. A large number of devotees come here during the monsoon and offer Jalabhisheka to Baba. Worshiping the temple during Shivaratri also has significant significance. According to astrologers, if a childless couple performs Baba Bholenath’s Jalabhishek, they get a son.
