Karuneshwar Templ Shukrawar Peth,Washim,Maharashtra
There were many temples of Sri Shankara in the very ancient city of Vatsagulma, i.e. today’s Washim city. This city was recognized as a small town. One of the ancient temples is the Sri Karneshwar Temple. Due to the corruption of this word, it may have got the name Karuneshwar temple today. Like the ancient Mahadev temple, the sanctum sanctorum of this temple is at a lower level than the ground, so there is a gradual descent of four or six steps. The gabhara of the temple is small. A mass is present. This is a mind-pleasing sight. Outside the sanctum sanctorum, a large number of sevaks are seated in Nandi form, waiting for Lord Sri Shankara. There are temples like Shri Ganesh, Balaji, Hanumant in the area.
