Share

Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple is located at Kelzar village in Wardha Tehsil close to Nagpur in Maharastra state. This place was known as “Ekchakra Nagar” as per Vashistha Puran and Mahabharata.

In the Vasishtha Puran it is mentioned that Sage Vasishtha – Lord Rama’s Guru had inhabited here and that for his religious cores this temple was founded. It is also indicated that around that time the river Wardha was created. According to the scripture, this Lord Ganpati was known as ‘Varad Vinayak’ and the river Wardha as Varad. The ancient time prevailed prior to the birth of Lord Rama and it is said that the sage Vasishtha had left this holy place after the birth of Lord Rama.

It is mentioned that while Kunti’s sons- Pandavas inhabited Ekchakra Nagar, they had killed the demon named as Bakasur. That place is in the North-west direction near Buddha Vihar alias “Tondya Rakshas Maidan” on Wardha-Nagpur national highway. The temple which exists on the hill is surrounded by beautiful nature and it was known to be a great tourism place ever since the regime of Vakataka Dynasty . The fort had five bastians and three vast fortifications constructed out of soil and stones. There is a big and beautiful rectangular well: a ‘Kushawarti Vihir’ known as Ganesh Kund. Many devotees use the holy water. After Wakataka dynasty this place is believed to be the capital of King Pravarsen as recorded in ancient history.
