This place is located on the Koderma-Giridih highway, about 33 kilometers from the district headquarters. Maa Chanchala Devi, who is a form of Maa Durga, whose temple is in a cave situated at a height of about 400 feet on a high mountain, is difficult to enter because the path to the cave is very narrow. A large number of marriages and tonsures also take place here. Devotees have to leave this place only after taking bath and those who violate these rituals are given the punishment of insect bites.

Sindoor cannot be applied to Maa Durga in the temple

Mother Chanchala is considered to be the form of Goddess Durga. Shiv Shaktipeeth at Kanikend turn of Nawalshahi is the main entrance gate of Mata Chanchala Devi. Chanchalini Dham is situated in the forest about 8 kilometers away from here. Maa Chanchala Devi is established in the middle of the mountains at a height of about 400 feet. There is also a cave on the mountain. Different forms of Goddess Durga can be seen inside the cave. The Pandit of Chanchalini Dham told that in the year 1956-57, the Kheshmi dynasty had constructed stairs on the mountain. However, due to the mother’s wish, a staircase has not been built to the top of the hill. The stairs up to the middle of the mountain were built by the Kheshmi dynasty. After this, to reach the Shivalinga situated on the top of the mountain, people climb to the top of the mountain with the help of a railing made of iron pipe and perform Jalabhishek on the Shivalinga.

Why is the use of vermillion prohibited?

Pandit told that in Chanchalini Dham, Mother Goddess is worshiped in girl form, hence vermilion is completely prohibited in the worship here. Coconut, Chunari and Prasad are offered in the puja. Apart from different districts of Jharkhand, hundreds of people from Bihar and Bengal also reach the Dham every month with their vows. After the fulfillment of the vow, there is a tradition of sacrificing a goat after worshiping in the Dham.

Wishes of childless couples are fulfilled

Pandit told that Chanchalini Dham has a belief that after praying here, a childless couple is blessed. This is the reason why a large number of childless couples come here to pray. Apart from this, people also come here to get relief from other troubles of life. People also protest here for several days. During the dharna, people remain engaged in cleaning and service work of the Dham complex. After feeling relief from sufferings, devotees return home after performing puja.

No devotee has suffered any trouble till date

Pandit told that till date no devotee has faced any kind of trouble while worshiping Chanchalini Dham located in the forest area and climbing the high peak of the mountain in a challenging manner. This is considered to be the blessing of the Mother Goddess. He told that on the occasion of Durga Puja, a large number of people come to the Dham to worship on Ashtami, Navami and Dashami.
