Maa Sanharani Temple became the center of faith for 1100 years

Maa Sanharani Devi Temple, located near Digiha Tiraha of the city, was established eleven hundred years ago. Here Maharaja Suheldev worshiped Mother Kali to gain victory over the enemy forces. Since then the temple has remained the center of faith and reverence of the devotees.

All forms of Mata Chandi are worshiped in Maa Sanharani Devi Temple. At present this Siddha temple is established in the middle of the city. It is believed that the foundation of this temple was laid at the same time as the attack on Somnath temple.

1100 years ago, before the war with the Mughal army, Maharaj Suheldev had pleased Mother Sanharini by worshiping Khadga in the temple. At that time there was a dense forest here. If we look at the legends, Maharaja Suheldev had defeated the enemy army by worshiping here through tantric method. Devotees believe that pending work gets completed by worshiping Goddess Kali.

Mother Chandi eliminates all the obstacles coming in their life. With this faith, devotees offer prayers in the morning and evening in the temple for all the nine days of Navratri. On the day of Durga Ashtami, special worship and havan is done in the temple.

A big Havan Kund is established here to perform Havan together. About fifty people can sit together and offer sacrifices in the pond. Havan is performed throughout the day at the conclusion of Navratri festival. Kanya Puja and feast is also organized by the Mahant of the temple.

Have been worshiping for 18 years
Mahant of Sanharini Mata Temple told that for 18 years he has been worshiping the Mother Goddess by giving up food. Mahant told that he had passed the high school examination in the year 1970. At the same time, Swami Satyanand had reached Maa Sanharini temple from Colonelganj in Gonda. At that very moment he became his disciple. Swami Satyanand had entrusted him with the responsibility of worshiping Mother Sanharini. Mahant Omprakash told that Swami Satyanand had renovated the temple in the year 1971.
