Maisigandi Maisamma Mandiram Kadthal is located in Kadthal Mandal, Maisigandi village which is a small village along the Srisailam – Hyderabad highway.This temple is dedicated to Goddess Maisamma, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. With its rich history, unique architecture, and spiritual significance, the Maisigandi Maisamma Temple attracts numerous devotees and tourists from across the region.
The idol of Maisigandi Maisamma is 20-feet high while the Gopuram is also considered huge and different from all south Indian temples where it is opened in the top. It is believed that the Mata here desired an open temple. The priests of this temple are usually from Banjara or Lambada castes.
According to the legend, a cowherd was on his way to the forest when he saw an idol of Ammavaru in the green pastures. He then reportedly rushed to the village and informed everyone about the idol of Ammavaru. The villagers were extremely happy to find that the revered Goddess decided to bless them in the form of the idol. They built a temple for Maisamma and started worshiping the idol.
During special occasions, the surroundings of the temple turn into beautiful folk destinations with Bonalu festivities and local Jatara. It is believed that Goddess Mahakali is powerful and fulfills all the wishes of devotees.
