When the villagers excavated this place, a Shivalinga came out from below, which is present in the temple today in the form of Mankameshwar Mahadev. The priest of Mukut Mandir said that the crown is installed here. It was offered by Gwalior State years ago. He said that 3 crowns were given from Gwalior State. One is in Ujjain Mahakaleshwar, one in Omkareshwar and one in Mankameshwar.

The priest of the temple said that every wish of the devotees is fulfilled here. This is the reason why a large number of people come here for darshan. There is a Gaurikund near the temple. There is a waterfall in it and water keeps coming in this waterfall for 12 months. Whatever is asked from God after taking bath in Gauri Kund. Mankameshwar Mahadev fulfills that wish.

According to another belief related to this temple, Parvati had performed penance in this area for Lord Shankar. Therefore this place is also called the penance place of Mother Parvati. There is also an inscription in the temple, the language of which no one has been able to read till now.
