Tiruvasi Mattruraivaradeswarar Temple is a Tamil temple located at Tiruvasi in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu, India. The historical name of the place is Tirupalasiramam. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Mattruraivaradar. His consort is known as Balambikai.
It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams – Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnanasambandar and Sundarar.
History
Trichy Thayumanavar Temple also known as the Rock Fort Temple, this beautiful construction was built by Pallava King. The temple is dedicated to Lord Thayumanavar (Lord Shiva), Mattuvar (goddess Parvathi). Devotees climb these steep steps to seek blessings from the deities. One can enjoy the complete view of Tiruchirapalli. The temple is right on the top of the Rock Fort approximately 275 steps have to be climbed to embrace the beauty of the temple. The temple has the Gaja Raj (Elephant), devotees offer Prasad to Gaja Raj and in return, they receive blessings from the Elephant. The temple is one the popular construction of Tamil Nadu. Also, foreigners visit this beautiful construction.
