History of Mukteshwarnath Temple: The history of the temple is about four hundred years old. This temple got the name Mukteshwar because of the presence of Muktidham next to it. A huge crowd of Shiva devotees gather here during Sawan and Shivratri. It is believed that four hundred years ago the king of Bansi came here to hunt and was surrounded by lions in the forest. Seeing his life in danger, the king remembered his favorite god Lord Shiv Shankar and the lions returned. The king resolved to build a temple of God at this very place. On his orders, Maharashtra resident Baba Kashinath established the temple here.

Especially programs like Mundan and meeting of bride and groom are organised. The place for Havan has been fixed. There is a verandah around the sanctum sanctorum, where bhajans and kirtans are performed. A fair is organized on Mahashivratri. Rangbhari Ekadashi is celebrated with great pomp.
