Nageshwar Shiva Temple LUCKNOW

Share

Nageshwar Nath Temple is a temple where a pair of snakes worship Shiva at night. Not only this, sometimes the pair of snakes stay there till morning after the night puja, and sometimes they leave from there before sunrise. This pair of snakes has been seen many times by the villagers and the priests. This is the reason why no one goes near Shivling after night. The temple of Nageshwarnath is situated in the village Kotwa near Bakshi pond, 17 kilometers from Lucknow. It is said about this temple that this temple belongs to Tretayug i.e. Ramayana period. Chaupaiyas from the Ramayana period are also found on the inner walls of this temple. There is a shape of two snakes on the Shivalinga of this temple, hence its name is Nageshwar Nath Temple.
This is such a Shivalinga that it has the shape of two snakes on the front and back. The priests and villagers told that in the same posture in which the figure is made, both the snakes come and sit on the Shivalinga at night. Many elders have also seen this. This is the reason why on the day of Nag Panchami, special puja is done here and a fair is also organized, in which people come from far away places.
Snakes do not harm anyone
Mahant of the temple Prem Shankar Dixit told that snakes come at night. He has seen it many times and the villagers have also seen it. He says that snakes never harm anyone. Both come at night and go in the morning. He further told that apart from Shivalinga, this temple also has statues of Santoshi Maa, Hanuman, Ram Darbar, Radha Krishna, Bhairav Baba and Durga. This temple remains open from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm in Sawan.Aarti takes place at 7:00 in the morning and at 7:45 in the night. Rudrabhishek is performed in this temple in Sawan. Yagya is performed and devotees from far away places come and visit here.
