Naimisharanya Chakra Tirth
India is called the land of sages. Most of the incarnations of God have also taken place on this holy and sacred land. In the eternal culture of India, Naimisharanya is known as a place of pilgrimage or holy place. The description of this pilgrimage is also found in many religious texts. It is situated on the banks of Gomti River in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. This place has been the abode of 88 thousand sages. When Lord Brahma started expanding the earth, he entrusted the responsibility of expanding the earth to Manu-Shatarupa. He performed rigorous penance here for 23 thousand years. It was on this Tapobhoomi that sage Dadhichi, keeping in mind the public welfare, donated his ashes to his enemy Devraj Indra. This is considered to be the biggest donation in the world. Lord Ved Vyas had composed the Vedas, Shastras and Puranas here. While describing this place in Shri Ramayana, Tulsidas ji says – Tirath Var Naimish Vikhyata. Very pious seeker, giver of success.
According to the story told in the scriptures, once upon a time, being sad due to the fear of demons, the sages went to Lord Brahma and said, “O Creator of the universe! Tell me about a place on earth where we can do religious work and penance without any fear.” Can do.”
On his request, Lord Brahma, with his power of penance, revealed a disc as bright as the Sun. Told the sages, “You follow this Chakra, where its Nemi (axis) will be underground. Dwell at the same spot.”The speed of Chakra was very fast, he went near a lake and got absorbed in it. Some people say that Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshan Chakra had fallen here, hence it is known as Sarovar Chakratirtha. It is believed that the water here comes from the inexhaustible water source of the underworld.
