Features of the temple
Narmadeshwar is the holy pilgrimage site of Mahadev region and the Narmada Kund located here is also considered as sacred as the Ganga. After originating from here, Narmada joins Maniyari river. Devotees come from far and wide to have darshan of Mahadev. The fair has also maintained its own identity in the region. Due to this, people also get attracted towards the fair.
Acharya told that devotees come here during the month to offer special prayers. Throughout the month of Sawan, Kanwariyas come out with water from Belpan Kund to anoint Mahadev. Also, carrying water from here, they go on foot to Vridheshwar Mahadev (Buddha Mahadev) situated in Ratanpur. It is believed that all the wishes of the devotees who offer water here are soon fulfilled. Lord Bholenath is kind and quick to please. This is the reason why long queues of his devotees are seen in Sawan. Not only Takhatpur, Shiva devotees come here from the entire state including Bilaspur.
