Ottawa Sivan Temple Ottawa,Canada

Share

The Saivites of Ottawa established the Vallavambika Sri Thaiyalnayaki Sametha Vaithiyanatha Swamy Koyil in 2007, in a sacred area known as “Vaitheeswaram” in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. This temple is commonly referred to as the “Ottawa Sivan Temple.”

The temple’s main deity, Sri Vaithyanatha Swamy, is represented in the form of a Sivalingam in the main sanctum. Goddess Sri Thaiyalnayaki stands in a separate sanctum, along with other deities, each in their own sanctums, bestowing blessings upon devotees.

After nearly twenty-five years of tireless effort, patience, great sacrifices, determination, and financial support from dedicated members of the Ottawa Tamil Hindu community, the long-held dream of establishing their own Tamil Hindu temple finally became a reality through the grace of the Almighty. On April 29, 2007, the National Capital Region of Ottawa welcomed a new cultural and spiritual landmark with the inauguration of the Ottawa Tamil Hindu Temple. The event began with a Bhumi Puja (land purification ceremony) and the laying of the temple’s foundation stone before an enthusiastic gathering of well-wishers. Since then building had been renovated to be a Hindu temple for placement of statues of Hindu deities to be procured. A grand consecrating ceremony (Kumbabishekam) of the temple in the acquired place was held from July 11th to July 15th 2007 in the presence of many local community leaders, well-wishers, religious personnel and more than 500 devotees. Since then; the temple is serving as a place of worship and sanctity, where the Hindus are fulfilling their religious obligations of worship, gathering place for community seniors, learning place for children and community social activities for the people of Ottawa.

Truly can feel the divinity here. The poojas and archanes are done with a lot of bhakthi. As soon as you enter the temple you will definitely feel there is a strong peaceful presence here. The pundits performed the puja with utmost sincerity and didn’t try to run fast! The idol of the God & Goddess feels so powerful.
