Panchmukhi Hanuman
is in the city of Karachi which is considered very miraculous.This temple is different and unique in itself. The history of this Hanuman temple in Karachi is very old. It is believed that the Panchmukhi Hanuman idol of this temple is thousands of years old. It is believed that this Panchamukhi Hanuman idol appeared after 11 handfuls of soil was removed from the place where this temple is. On doing 11 parikramas of Lord Hanuman in this temple, all the troubles of the devotees end and all their wishes are fulfilled.

Lord Hanuman’s Panchmukhi (Five-Faced) Avatar is said to represent all five directions. Hanuman faces the east, Narasimha faces the south, Varaha faces the north, Garuda faces the west, and Hayagriva faces the sky.

Manifestation of the Panchmukhi Hanuman

During the Ramayana war, a losing Ravana summoned one of his brothers, Ahiravana, the chief of Patala Loka (the nether world). Disguising himself as Vibhishana, Ahiravana threw Hanuman off-guard and kidnapped Lord Rama and Lakshmana.

Ahiravana’s soul rested in five candles. When Hanuman went to Patala Loka, he learned that the only way he could kill Ahiravana was to extinguish all five candles at the same time. That is when Hanuman manifested his Panchamukhi roop, each form facing a different direction. Together, they blew out the candles and brought the still-unconscious Lord Rama and Lakshmana back to Lanka.

Historians says that Karachi Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir is several lakh years old, but the present day temple has its history associated with the 18th century. This temple was rebuilt in the year 1882. According to the scriptures, Lord Shriram has come to this temple. The idol of Panchmukhi Hanumanji sitting in the temple is not an ordinary idol, because the history of this idol dates back to 17 lakh years old Treta Yuga.
