Parashuram Mandir -Trimbak

Parashuram Mandir is located at Trimbak near Nashik in Maharashtra.Lord Parashuram was the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu.The present form of the temple is believed to have been built around 1850. In past, Bhagwan Parshuram had meditated on the Neel mountains where is situated near Annapoorna Mata temple today.

Bhagwan Parashuram Temple in Trimbakeshwar is worshipped in the form of a child. The vigilance of Chaturbhuji Bal Parashuram is beautifying the white aura in the temple.

This place was chosen by Lord Parshuram for meditation. There was an ancient temple of Parshuram. Presently, there is a temple more than 125 years old. The idol is made in vaishnav style with four hands. There is an idol of Lord Narayan. The Stone tablets found at the place speak of the glory of the Emperor Satvahan. The temple is believed to be constructed at the time of Yagnas performed by the Kings.

In the Treta Yug, Lord Vishnu was born as Parshuram Avatar to sage Jamadagni and Renuka. He was the youngest among the four sons and was the most powerful of them all. Parshu means axe, therefore his name means Rama with an axe. He had received the axe as a gift from Lord Shiva as a result of his meditation. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva.

Parshuram is believed to have been Chiranjeevi (immortal).Born in the Bhrigu clan, Parshuram Avatar possessed the qualities of both brahmin and Kshatriyas. He was half Brahmin and half Kshatriya. Lord Vishnu had incarnated as Parashuram to end the evil deeds of Kartavirya Arjuna, a Kshatriya king who was blessed with invincibility. He had 1000s of arms and he along with other Kshatriya kings had strayed from their path and Parshuram Avatar was born to eliminate the evil in the form of Kshatriyas.Rulers like Janak or Ikshwaku were not harmed.

Akshay Tritiya festival is celebrated as Parashuram Janmotsav in the world. On this day, kirtan is organized in the temple. This annual festival of the temple starts from Baishakh Pratipada and is celebrated with joy till Ashtami. According to scholars, Akshay Tritiya is also considered to be the beginning of the Treta Yuga.
