Pattaneshwar Mahadev Temple is the most peaceful place not only in the world but in all the three worlds. This temple is one of the 84 Mahadev temples near Khilchipur Pulia on Agar Road. This temple is said to be of Parmar period.
According to the Purana, once seeing Sadashiv leaving Mount Kailash and sitting in solitude in the Mahakal forest, Parvati wanted to resolve the doubt and said, why are you sitting here? Lord Shiva said, Goddess, this place is the most peaceful, beautiful and virtuous among the three worlds. Devarshi Naradji also sang the glory of that place situated in Mahakal forest and called the place where Lord Shiva was sitting as Pattaneshwar Mahadev.
Worship with couple has special significance
Worship of Pattaneshwar Mahadev brings happiness and prosperity. Performing puja as a couple keeps married life happy. There is happiness and peace in the house. Kripalu Hanumanji, Shani, Bhairavnath temples are also located in the temple premises. Ramcharitmanas is recited every Amavasya in Hanuman temple. There is provision for food and shelter for the saints and the destitute.
This is the first Shiva temple among the 84 Mahadev temples, which comes first while entering Ujjain. In Sawan, Kavad pilgrims come to Pattaneshwar Mahadev for Mahakal darshan.
Hence the name Pattaneshwar Mahadev
In Skanda Purana, Narad ji named this place Pattaneshwar. It was built according to the architecture of Parmar period. For this reason the name Pattaneshwar came from the word Pattan.
