There is a temple in the middle of Ludhiana city in which the self-proclaimed Shivalinga of Lord Bholenath has been worshiped for 500 years. It is believed that the place where the temple is located used to be deserted and 500 years ago suddenly Lord Bholenath appeared here in the form of a stone Shivalinga and since then the people of the city come to this temple to offer water and bow their heads to fulfill their wishes. . We are talking about Sangla Shivala Temple of Ludhiana. One of the oldest temples of the city. This temple is looked after by the Mahant sect and the first Mahant here was Alakh Puri. Presently Mahant Narayan Das is the chief servant of Puri temple.

There is a strange story behind the name of the temple Sangla Shivala. Mahant Narayan Das Puri tells that when Lord Shiva’s Swayambhu Linga was born here, his ancestors built a temple here. This place was completely deserted, so they had put fences all around it so that no animals or useless people would damage the temple premises. Then people started calling it Sangalwala Shivalaya. Later its name became Sanglawala Shivala.

At present, in the temple premises there are amazing statues of nine forms of Shiva Durga, Vaishno Devi, Maa Chintpurni Mata, Kali Mata, Santoshi Mata, Maa Durga, Dattatreya, Ganga Maiya, Ram Darbar, Hanuman, Baba Balak Nath, Lakshmi Narayan, Lakshmi Mata. The temples and idols of Lord Ganesha have been displaced.

Wishes are fulfilled by worshiping the idols of nine goddesses built in the ancient temple of Sangla Shivala with a true heart. Shivala, built 500 years ago, used to be a deserted place, whose first Mahant was Alakh Puri.

The Guru-disciple tradition has been going on in Shivala.

The temple is near Chauda Bazaar in the old city. To reach here, one can reach from Ghade Wale Chowk via Gokul Road from the railway station. Apart from this, the temple can also be reached from Nikkamal Chowk via Chauda Bazaar.
